I had no idea it was in such good condition till I got home. This has to be pushing XF, too bad it's a common date.

Is there a die crack at the top of the B? I just noticed it in the picture.

STUNNING is a perfect word for that coin. AWESOME find.

One question -- forgive my ignorance, but HOW did you take such a clear close-up photo? I'd like to photograph ALL my nice finds that way, but don't have the photography knowledge to know how to do it...

Steve and kschae4 , look at the manual for your digital camera, assuming you have a digital, and read up on the macro option. Macro allows you to put the camera close to your subject and still focus. I also keep my picture settings to the highest possible resolution. If you don't have your manual you can probably find it on line.

Hope this helps,
Steve

Steve --

I'm not sure my camera HAS a macro setting. I looked through the menu the other day (as I figured that's how you took those shots), and couldn't see anything that was an obvious "macro" mode. Guess I need to read the manual! :)

Thanks -- and, GREAT-looking merc! Nicest I've seen dug in a long time.
