A friend asked me a few days ago to see if I could help him find any information on a small silver bar he acquired. I submitted the pics in Emails to a few of our other little circle of friends, because two of them in particular seem to have a knack for finding out the historical significance of items. This ingot wasn't found with a metal detector but rather saved from being scrapped out for it's silver weight. Turns out it might be a VERY wise decision. The names and places of the friend who has the bar as well as the other friend who looks to have found something researching it have been removed for obvious anonymity reasons here. We all need to dream a little to give us hope and spark in life, and not just for the reasons of motivation at our great hobby of metal detecting. Latest *potential* great news on this silver ingot can be found in the above thread link. Things are looking promising based on what an auctioneer who saw some emailed pics told him. They seem very excited about it, and they specialize in silver ingots and bars.
 
You might want to check this out. My friend just called me and said feel free to share the news, keeping him anonymous of course. Our circle of friends are very excited for him. Now it's a contest to see which of us can suck up the most. :biggrin: Kidding of course...

Nice old hunk of silver , 8000.00 ? historic value of course something like that i would never sell i would keep it in a display case for all to see just how many of those are found ? not many that is for sure once in life time find :thumbup:. Jim
