Study done on what was fired in a 8" columbiad.

I was going through my pictures today. I took this picture while visiting Ft. Sumter in September. It is a 8" columbiad.

I was curious as to what was fired from these things. I couldn't see in the canon. I turned the flash on in my camera to get a picture inside. This is what was revealed. I would have never guessed.

Be easy on me guys. The ground is frozen with 6" of snow on top.
 
That means all the cans I have been throwing away are actually cannon shot!:unsure:
 
What I find amazing is that the cannon isn't plugged. I think all of the old cannon I have seen have been plugged with brass plugs.
That one may still be shot!
