Struck Silver Today!

Today I hunted an old "hunted out" park. For the first few hours I only found newer coins. Then I went to an area where there were some huge old trees. I got a good signal and dug up a 1905s Barber Dime that was buried 5 or 6 inches in the ground. Soon after that I got another good signal and dug a sterling silver thimble that was about 8 or 9 inches down. This is the first silver I've found with my new E-trac. It was also my fourth time out hunting with it. The first few hunts were learning experiences where I was mostly trying to figure this machine out. I had issues with pinpointing, but now it's not a problem at all. It's just a matter of learning. And this is my first Minelab detector and my first detector with a double-d coil. It's different than the Whites, Fisher and Garrett detectors I've used in the past. The more I use this detector, the more I like it! In regard to the silver I found today, I'd just like to say, "Yeeaaahhhhooooooo!!!!!!!"

Bugaloob, don't feel bad i've had mine for about five months and only two silvers. that's taking into consideration the learning curve, time off detecting with winter and overtime, and lack of a decent site. think i will see my silver count go up this season! The silver's out there, let's get some! HH

very nice, I've had my Etrac for 2 weeks and still no silver :(

I didn't find any silver my first 3 hunts. This was my 4th hunt with the E-trac, which I just got. The parks in my area have been heavily hunted since the 1960's, I'm sure. For the first few hours of this hunt, I only found newer coins. So before giving up, I went to an area of the park that doesn't attract a lot of people. There are no picnic tables, grills, swings or anything. Those first areas I detected were probably the first spots that captured everyone's attention over the years. There could still be silver hiding there, but it was the less obvious area that produced for me. It has been overlooked by many. So I guess that's a tip and I'm happy to share it. Hope you find that silver soon.
