Did more hunting in the farm field, and still no silver or gold , but i did find a well flatened slug

Thanks for the secret of the butterfly lol. Now I need to go eat a few mmmm Cool video! not only are you the director, but the main actor in " Conquering Tabors 80"
It totally amazes me at the amount of bolts, nails, lead slugs, iron etc etc etc in the field. This only tells us one thing Gunnar - there were people on the land. ALL OVER THE LAND!
Is that home made or is it a swingy thingy you have strapped to your detector?

jeeim it is the swingy thing , and it really makes a diffrence, let me tell you , my sholder was going out but with this swingy thing its just fine ,

Great video Gunnar,
You are helping to convince me for the need to purchase a pointer.
What type is yours? I can't quite read the name on your video clip.

Pete

With the WOT I am sure that swingy thingy is greatly needed. Thanks Gunnar! keep on swinging and making the movies as I enjoy your weekly episodes of hunting in the field.

Gunnar, that's a lot of relics from a farm field. Was there ever a homestead on the spot you are searching? I went back and reviewed your previous posts and didn't see any mention beyond the knowledge that the area has been well traveled. Seems you're due for a great find, maybe even a cache.

I did some research at historicalmapworks.com a couple weeks ago, looking for some old homesteads in my neck of the woods. I found a couple of properties on an 1876 map that once accommodated homesteads. What's nice about historicalmapworks is you can overlay the old maps on the current Google maps at the website. As I was searching, I decided to see what was near the road I live on. Low and behold, there was a homestead located adjacent to my property. I had no idea but it explains the square nails and other old iron relics I've occasionally found. I am trying to pinpoint the location of the home better since there is no indication that a home ever existed near me. My house and the houses around me were built in the 70's and historical aerials don't reveal anything either. I verified that a couple centennial farms near me line up on the map so I'm confident that there was a homestead right under my nose. Go figure!

I use a pistol probe, and its deep , 4" on a dime in ground it does interfear with the detector if its to close , but i have maniged fine by moving the coil away , ISM-- its amazing how any visible trace of a old home can be wiped away. just start detecting in the earea, you never know , ya I am du for a coin find , man its been a long hall with no coins , how i long for just one silver coin to grace the tip off my coil
