Street tear out bottle find, need help with ID?

Drove past a large street tear out and stopped with my metal detector, found this bottle laying on the surface! Should I clean it or will it hurt the value? Need an idea of its age....
I think its an inkwell?

Technically I know nothing about bottles. Although I have found a bunch, and if I saw that laying there I know it would go on a special shelf- it just looks substantial. From the looks of the opening , do you think it had like one of those glass stoppers? Those are pretty thick walls too. Im sure you will hear more on the forum here. CO
