Strap Support for CZ6A

Hello all,

The older CZs can get a little heavy on your arm if you use them without some kind of support strap.

I made this little strap connector out of a piece of .050" thick stainless steel sheet metal. The connector slides up under the batter compartment tie down screws to keep it in place. I would not leave home without this as it makes detecting so much easier. I just use a regular dog leash hooked to the connector and wrap the leash around my neck and through my belt. Then depending on if you are going up hill or down hill you can easily adjust for proper length by pulling the leash. You can see another connector I use for beach hunting mounted on the shaft. I hipmount the unit for beach hunting.

The reason that the sheet metal connector hole is biased towards one side is so that it maintains the coil parallel to the ground. I originally had the hole in the center and there was a tendency for the coil to tilt.

This is something that is fairly simple to make with a set of nibblers, drills and a file. Just thought I would share this with you so that you can possibly enjoy your CZs that much more.

Great idea... but have you considered the fact that the detector's weight is being partially supported by the battery door screws?

I would be worried that there might be a possibility of stress cracks forming on the CZ's plastic housing in the area where the screws mount into the detector? (Please note... I have nothing to base this opinion on.)

Since you are not going to find another CZ-6A too easily... I would lean more toward the idea of mounting a second D-ring on the detector's shaft just in front of the control box???

Since I almost always go by tone id when hunting with my CZ6a and don't look at the meter, I decided to mount it on a straight shaft. Makes the entire package so much lighter and balanced. I can now beach hunt all day long with any coil ( 8, 10.5, Sunray FZ12).

Hello Yes i have been swinging a CZ-6a for 15 yrs.
im 57 now and hip mount it now that realy litens the load

Always said our hobby had a bunch of inventive people and this just goes to prove it....whatever works I guess.

Do be careful shifting the weight to the larger neck and shoulder muscles as a sore arm is one thing but back, shoulder, neck injuries can be real serious..
