Strange Park and Beach Sovereign Day

Thought I'd try my luck using the Sunray Intruder 12.5" coil on my XS2-a pro at an old park, crawling along trying to get those deep coins and then give the beach a try.

Found very few coins at the park, one deep target that I finally gave up on after digging over a foot (I think it was a copper pipe) but I found this neat ring. Unfortunately the ring appears to be a junker, looks like it's silver plated copper, not sure about the green stone.

At the beach, I didn't find any jewelery, but found a beach toasted wheatie. Jewlery in the turf and old coins in the surf, strange

Seemed like there was some kind of EMI issue today at this park (never had it happen before here) as the Sov wasn't running very well, had a hard time keeping it stable, and kept getting a pulsing feedback, didn't matter if it was AM, or disc, even in auto mode (although it was a bit more stable)

hh,
Brian

Cal,nice hunt,A lot of the parks I hunt have both a sweet and sour spot. The sour spot just bad ground signals bouncing around even though some targets will come through. The sweet spot of these parks sensitivity to the max smooth sailing with unbelievable depth.I have seen other detector users with the same problems at these sites.HH Ron

You did try the noise cancel ?
I know many GT hunters who simply forget this control.

Band 1 > Band 2, or
Band 2 > Band 1

Tony.

Thanks Ron. The odd thing is that I've hunted this park before with my F70 and a CZ70 and never noticed any EMI issues

Tony unfortunately the XS2a-pro doesn't have a frequency shift/noise cancel option, that would be a nice feature to have.

Thanks,
Brian

May not be what you are talking about but mine will start to give a sharp pulsing feedback when the batteries are going dead.Stay away from putting NIMH rechargeables in the alkaline pack,to use in the Sovereign or Musketeer,it will not work, the detector will not act right.NIMH AA batteries only come in 1.2 volts dc1.2x8=9.6v. This is not a good voltage .Not like the alkalines which are 1.5volts dc.1.5x8=12v.Some say that the 1.2v nimh batteries will work, but they do not work for me.

Brokensignal I've seen that happen before, as well as other strange behavior with the rechargeable battery pack when it was running out of juice. I had the alkaline pack in that day because the rechargeable battery pack wasn't charged up, but had alkalines in. I just checked the voltage to make sure that they were fresh, and got a voltage reading of +11.58 volts, so it looks like it was good on power. I'm still a bit perplexed, as I've used the Sov at this park as well as a couple other machines before and never had any EMI issues, but maybe there was something switched on that day that was causing the problem  Even though I couldn't get the Sov to run very smoothly, it was still finding targets, although I'm sure it performs better when it's stable.
