Crescent tools well known for there hand tools , mainly the wrench that everyone is fimilar with, but they started as a company that made machines for the woodworking industry, I think it may be a piece off of a machine they manufactured, Now I cant say what but I do feel its a safe bet it came from a piece of heavy machienery, possiblly a boring machine of some type, the slot on the bottom looks like it must have been attached with a bolt and nut set up and you could move it in or out depending on the depth you were try to achieve ......How heavy is it?? does it seem like it would stand up to high RPM use ??? or is it a soft metal?? anyhow its an interesting piece .....

It's hard metal, not sure what thought
and if heavy
but there is no sharp edges as if it were for a cutting tool

Could it be one those things mountain climbers use to put their rope thru so they can rapell?...d2

I think the inside edges are to sharp for a rope to last very long

It looks kinda like a beater for an ice cream maker. Could it possibly be something that spun around in a churn to air-ate a substance.
