Strange little monkey!

Found this in front of a pre 1900's homesite in the sidewalk strip. Does anyone have any clue what it is? I can't find a thing out about it! It is about 3 inches tall and 2 inches wide, perhaps a money clip of sorts? it's marked sterling and has a patent date of April 16th 1901

That is an awesome find. Kinda strange that it has a patent. I bet you're right about it being a money clip.

What a great and unusual find ! Nice save !! :detecting:

That's one monkey off your back. Really neat find. Maybe an ear ring? It looks like it would fit over an ear. Just guessing.

Couldn't find your monkey but they do make earrings that go around the ear, called ear wraps or cuffs, that don't require piercing so I'm sticking with my original guess.

LOL Thats awesome! Whats he holding.... lol

I would think sterling silver that thin would not work well as a money clip, (pretty soft) but I don't have a better suggestion. It does look like he is a little mischievous.
