Strange little hunt today..

I sort of did a modified REVIER/Tabman pattern today...only had an hr and a half, hit an old dirt football/soccer field Ive been to many times with the screwdriver...thought Id try to pop some gold..so I was set up to attempt to find some by assessing the size and depth of each signal, and not just fly over it like normal...F70 set at 60 sens, DP tones, 4disc.....so I just eased along, picking targets, trying to get the solid and tight profile ones, especially the off numbers that didnt jump.....picked up some nice multidenom spills and stacks (which did jump of course)..the largest tight stack had 3Q's a few D's, 2 N's and a penny...and it sure didnt sound like anything but junk of course...then I hit that chain bracelet signal...in the low 50's not a number you hear all the time....its a heavy chain, but junk, but it was the right tone for big gold...sort of fun to work an area that no doubt holds some gold somewhere, probably in foil, but who knows? Might be a mens class ring in zinc there too, or a girls in the high tabs (37)...its an old place as you can tell from the beavertails, used to be a lot of clad, but I've hit this place before multiple times pretty hard...cold North wind...I'm tired of hunting the water and beaches in this chill, though I've lost 20lbs being in the cold and running the sand for a few months, so thats good I guess, but boring as hell, and does not require a lot of skill or target evaluation tecniques, just endurance and speed...not one day in July over 90 degrees makes for slim beach hunting..I prefer dirt work with the 70 over all other forms of hunting...its rewarding and fun, even just targeting tabs and zincs and going at a relaxed pace can be fun..

Won't be long and you will be hunting deep silver.

I bet that chain was a heart stopper for few seconds.

Nice hunt,

Thought about you this am Ron as I went in here, to maybe try to find something to post that would be an encouragement to your cladstabbing/jewelry hunting interest...yeah, that chain sort of had me for a second, I dont know about me ever being a dedicated old silver hunter, sure, i'm an opportunist as the situation arises, but not a daily silver hunter...I was born 50yrs too late to really make a run at it in that sense...I like clad, and gold...and I like beer, this is enough clad to buy me some! I will however, dedicate some more time to REVIER's pattern and method of finding dirt gold...gold buys a lot of beer, clad keeps a guy in the zone where it could be...

I'm sure I'll knock down some huge gold this year someplace...Ive run out of areas close to home that I have highgraded all the easy clad, and Lord, what? nearly 30 gold items within 15miles of the house in a few years? How much is still out there I wonder? Has to be a lot more...you should be finding some this year...make it a focus of yours and it will show up!:please:

That's not a bad day. If there's a gold ring out on the sport's field, you'll find it. I figure each field has a dozen or more rings waiting to be found.:)

I have said as long as I have been detecting that we are walking all over the gold. If I can get a pattern worked out and find a couple I will be off and running.

Great site, good technique, dig the solid signals wherever they are, I usually stick to mostly no more than a 2-3 number jump, turn to another angle to make sure, then dig.
3 silver rings for me in the last 2 weeks, 2 were solid in that 2 number span, one was a bit jumpier because of bone dry soil or maybe other reasons but the sweet solid tone made me dig it.
The titanium and gold ring I just found both had no jumping numbers at all, a solid 31 on the titanium, a solid 34 on the gold every time on any pass.
I love using 4H when jewelry hunting...that solid nice high tone on silver is great, the same signal from anything in the nickel range like those 2 better rings is my favorite thing about the F70.
I might have noticed and dug those nickel area rings plus the other gold rings in that area I found since I got the F70 with other tone options besides 3H and 4H...and I do look at the screen too, but those 2 high tone nickel options just make it impossible to miss these things if they are there and you are lucky enough to roll your coil over them.
Even for a guy as old and confused as you.

I know you love DP tones, but take a chance and think outside the box once in awhile.
If you find gold my way my commission rates are positively cheap at only 10%.

Keep it coming boys! :clapping: Good advice and info that I should know by now!...sometimes its good to refocus and slow 'er down a bit, you know, evaluate the target a little more before moving on?...I cant believe I missed all this clad in the past, but then again, I did get a bunch out of here, lots and lots, which leads me to believe theres gold here someplace!...from now until the end of the season I'm seriously after gold!..too late to have a banner clad year, and I'm sure I high flew and speed swept right over gold in some of my spots...Heck, I may just do a bit of experimenting with some settings and find some! Thanks brothers!:beers:
