went to a tot lot whith the idea that i wanted to see if somoen els was hunting it because it is so often empty so i desided to take two quarters and plant them in the tot lot and come back later and see if they wher gone so i scaned the first earea to make sure it was empty and then planted the 1st quarter at 4" and started moving away from it when i got a good beep guess what it was a bran new alaska qurter wow i thout so i went to the next spot scaned it then planted the 2nd quarter and started moving away form that then just befor i was going to leave i only had 5 minutes i got another beep it was another new alaskan quarter so i planted two and found two but its funny it was an alaskan quarter thats whear the gold is at and on the quarter is a big bear whith a fish in its mouth ooooo is this a sighn i will make a big catch ???

Could be "someone else" was setting "bait" to see ,if there was "someone else" working that tot lot. Go back and dig up one of the quarters and you will be ahead. This way, it is a draw. Dig them both up, and start changing when you go...Cordially NAD

I've got an idea, instead of planting quarters, use nickles instead. That way you come out 20 cents ahead. By useing nickles you would find out the expertise of the other metal detectorist, and if they are useing low discrimination. Quarters are too easy to find. Good luck..........Hombre

If you are not running just above small iron bits, and getting the 5 cent pieces, you are leaving the good stuff.Which reminds me, tot lot cleaner may be coming Friday night..Today is Thursday, one day ahead of him..If I had a punch, would leave a nickel with MDist punched in...Better idea, worthless 1800 coins from a bracelet, look like silver About as bad as leaving that broken dredge tooth section painted GOLD just above the high water mark at Sebastien Inlet in "68...Any of you old timers find it?
