Strange find Saturday

We hit a couple of elementary schools Saturday. First one I found a German 5 Phennig piece in a kids sandbox. We both were scrathing our heads. Then we drove about a mile to another school and in the woodchips at the bottom of a slide, my buddy finds a 1936 two Franc piece and I came up with a Canadian penny. Thought we were going to find more foreign money than American......go figure.

I just started metal detecting about 2 months ago. I was visiting my parents at the time and decided to swing it around their backyard just for the fun of it. Ended up finding a 1978 German 10 pfennig coin about 5 inches deep. It's in pretty bad shape but thought it was pretty cool for my first find.

Parents always give their kids foreign coins my son loves them. When my daughter was younger she always wanted any we came across too! And you mentioned a sandbox, my son carries his around with him once in a while, he is 8.

On Sunday we went to a beach in Carlsbad, Ca.

Found several dimes several Penny's a nickel and a bolt the bolt looks to about 1 1/2 in size. the bolt was down close to the water line about 3 inches deep.
