This coin was recovered in Rhode Island along with 5 more of the same coins in the remains of what might of been a sack of some sort. The date is 1715. I have looked everywhere for info on the coin and I can't find anything. Any help would be great.
...there are replica coins of this type and date that look very similar to the one you posted. Apparantly there are now chinese factories stamping out replicas of old silver American colonial coins. An authentic ducaton (also called ducatoon in colonial America) is 45 millimeters thereabouts and weighs around 32 grams.
