hi everyone,
i was metal detecting in a field, and i saw a black rock.it didn't come up on the detector, i just spotted it.
i washed it, and it has a shiny black surface, it is very light for its size. would any one have any idea what it is?
there are a few more in the field, in different shapes.
thanks for any help,
john

is it maybe" bakerlite ", (not sure thats how u spell it) a bi product of coal..that was used for a while to make Alvey fishing reels till they went to plastic..just a guess there

You should just leave her right where you found her..........

HH,

After it has been weathered a while coal will hardly have any soot or dust on it. Of course if it is coal it would be soft enough to scrape off onto concrete.
