Strange audio while hunting today.

While hunting today, my threshold was interrupted by a high pitch tone that had nothing to do with a target. My threshold stopped and the high pitched tone lasted for a second or two and then the threshold came back to normal. My battery level was full, it wasn't an overload tone, it's a little hard to describe. I called Marty at Minelab it didn't have a clue other than maybe my battery voltage output was the problem. I'm running an RnB battery, but haven't tried the AA battery pack yet. Has anyone else encountered this. I had been planning to trade or sell the Etrac and go to either a CTX or Deus, but, I can't pass this situation on to someone else without knowing what in the world would cause it. It did it with 2 different coils, so, I don't think the coil had anything to do with it. I still have a couple of years of warranty on it, but, with the wait times, I'll wait until it gets worse or just live with it. Any input would be great.

Mine does that every once and a while, mainly when it is trying to balance in High trash areas. This happens usually when I lay it down to dig. I bet as soon as you moved it, it went back to normal.

It happened when I was hunting in heavy trash as well. Yep as soon as the coil moved it stopped. I guess I won't worry about it then, thanks daddyflea!!

I call it normal mine has done it ever since I have had it. My etrac hunts good

I have also encountered this lately. I would call it almost a dog whistle tone, extremely high pitch - barely audible. It doesn't seem to happen in TTF.
I thought it was some sort of overload as it has happened when I was trying to isolate a target.
I don't think it is normal since my etrac just started doing this in it's 6th year.

That sounds different than what I'm hearing, the tone I hear is the same volume as my threshold and I only hunt in TTF.

I am pretty sure it has something to do with Balancing since I only get it when around large metal and usually when I lay my Detector down to dig. A slight movement and it is gone. My Detector has done this from the day I bought it. I have two Etracs and can not swear they both do it right now, but the one that will send out this tone occasionally, is the one I normally hunt with because it has the Coiltek 5X10 coil on it. This is my favorite combination and I find a lot of coins with it.

I am not putting you down because I am certainly no expert, but hunting only in TTF you must be missing a lot of stuff. I am mainly a coin hunter and often shift over to Two Tone Ferrous. I find that in good areas I find Coins in Conductive, multi that TTF wont pick up. I set my Ferrous with 0-22 open with Conductive 32-48 open. Readings such as 20-40 or 20-43 are mostly coins laying next to Iron.
