strait shaft for CZ-5

In the sense that you can just slip the CZ5 off of the stock shaft and slip it onto an aftermarket straight shaft. I don't think any of the manufacturers that make straight shafts, have one with a CZ5/6a/3D bracket attached for out of the box mounting. Seems more hunters are looking to put their older CZ's on straight shafts, so it may be something the manufactures may want to do ( HINT HINT !).

You have to get a straight shaft of some sort, and fashion a mount yourself ( see the pic of what I did for my CZ6a's). I just got an old CZ stock shaft and cut off the part where the mounting bracket is attached to the rod, and drilled holes through it and attached it to an old straight shaft I had. Works perfect...you just need to get an old stock shaft somewhere.

Therover has one of the best mods I have seen. Seems to me for a experienced CZ hunter who hunts by sound as unit is upside down but sure improves the weighting and ergonomics...
Perhaps someone with the ability could mount it right side up but would entail taking unit apart and would not advise as chances are you may cause damage in doing so....

Hey Therover, Your Mount looks GOOD!! But, I was just thinking if a Person bought one of the Aftermarket ABOVE the ELBOW EXTENSIONS, and SECURED It INTO the END of
a STRAIGHT Shaft or Possibly the FISHER S-Shaft. Then ATTACHED the CZ Box to that EXTENSION, so the WEIGHT would be A-B-O-V-E the ELBOW, like one of
the Aftermarket EXCAL Designs!! That might work ALSO, but YOU would ALSO be Detecting by SOUND, and WOULD NOT be able to Watch the DISPLAY!!

The mod/position show in the picture is for my 6a with the 8 inch coil. The control box in that position with the 8 inch coil is balanced perfect. I have another 6a mounted higher up on another straight shaft, with the 10.5 coil ( or when I swap out and use my Sunray FZ 12 inch coil), and the control box is, above the elbow mounted, which is better balanced using those bigger coils.

I beach hunt with the 6a's and strictly tone hunt, digging everything but small iron.Yes,, I have been known to chase some deep, bigger iron, but some of those chases were deep silver ! I don't use the pin point button, so for me, these set ups are perfect since I never need to look at the meter.Only thing I do need to do every so often is check the ground balance and sensitivity level. Unit always stays in salt mode and discrimination level 0 when in the wet sand or suds, and if I venture into the dry, I switch to normal mode, re-ground balance and away I go.

Therover, GLAD You tried that Method and was PLEASED with It!! I have one of my (3) EXCALS' with a 10x12 SEF Coil Mounted On IT, and with the CONTROL Housing above the
ELBOW, IT WORKS for ME!! Hopefully, some of the Other Members, that Detect with CZs' will Give it a TRY!! HH, Les Robinson.
