straight shaft?

I found the best rods are where the Excal is behind the elbow. I made my own over/under and used it one time.

The beach is tiring. If you hunt the surf more so. It is hot .There is so much ground to cover. You walk in sand. You walk to and from your hotel or car. You carry a big scoop. Swinging a heavy detector on top of all that is work. Making the load lighter can be the difference of hours of detecting. I take the weight off, I like the Excal back. It stays out of the water more so that way too.

i have my excal on a belt mount assy, seems to work real good for me..
then i use a straight shaft..

I've seen them mounted right under the armrest like this "Balanced Shaft Assembly (2 Parts) for Excalibur 800/1000"
I've also seen them mounted behind like this "Excalibur Rear Balance Rod Assembly"

I ask this for both beach and water.

Goodmore did you make one like the "Balanced Shaft Assembly (2 Parts) for Excalibur 800/1000" or was it like the Anderson?

Sorry for hijacking your forum plymouthian12

I tried my best to copy the Anderson. I made it from extra Sovereign shaft parts. I realize that the Anderson could be made of a lighter material, but in the end I think it comes down to balance. Mounted behind the arm cuff is the best way for me. There are younger stronger guys out there who could probably swing a truck with out a care, but not me.

I have mine behind the cuff too as the balance is perfect, i mount it backwards so that the headphone wire comes straight up and the disc/PP knob is at hand, works for me. The only drawback if you could call it that is sometimes i use a shovel to dig rather than a scoop and i never put the detector down, always prop against the body, the behind the cuff is a bit long at first till you get the hang of it.
