I have found that the tubing on an old pair of crutches is the correct dia.for the top shaft and I believe it to be a stronger alloy than plain aluminum tubing.I found a pair of crutches at a local Goodwill store for a couple of dollars. I also used the hand grip from one of them as the hand grip for my new upper shaft.I hope this will be a help and save you money.
