Straight shaft for AT Pro?

I have a Garrett AT Pro, and love it! Recently I was noticing some people going to a straight shaft such as the Anderson Shafts, and wondered do they really help with arm and shoulder fatigue? I've had hand, wrist and shoulder surgery, and sometimes the bigger coils will cause some fatigue and pain in the shoulder on long hunts, and have heard that these straight shafts help to eliminate that!

I don't know about straight shafts but I changed the grip on mine and it made a world of difference. I purchased a set of ergo bicycle grips at Walmart for around $8. Feels 100% better no elbo pain and looks good too.

That Grip is Exactly what I have on mine and also installed the Gizmo which helps balance the detector with the stock coil on it . Before I installed the Gizmo I could not swing it with the stock coil more than two hours now I can go about 4 to 5 hours and not feel the strain on my shoulder and wrist anymore

I like that idea on the bicycle grips! Gonna hafta look into that. Think the Grey Ghost Amphibians are gonna happen first. For myself, I prefer a straight shaft, I find it much more comfortable. Having said that, the Pro with the 5X8 coil, is very manageable for me. I can pretty much last for whatever time I have. I have replaced the stock shaft for my Excal, and would be interested in knowing if there is a straight shaft, direct replacement, for the Pro. Artie

Nice idea on the grip mate, when the foam one starts to give way on mine I think I will do the same. Great!
Cheers!

Anderson shafts just released the straight shaft for the AT Pro! I too love the 5X8 but hunt a lot of old sites and always worry about loosing a couple of inches in depth by not using the 8.5X11. Thanks for all of the tips, and I too like the bicycle grip idea!
