Together the pieces are about 2" high X 4 1/2" Dia., they are made of steel(iron?)and made to lock together. Found in old mining area.
Thanks Dave

Looks sort of like a reflector and a lens keeper ring.

A nice collection of carbide mining head lamps

A closer match below is a battery pack head lamp, 1930's to 1950's. Description from the link below:
>>This lamp is very well marked with black battery box, with nickel/brass lamp bezel. Battery box and lamp show some honest in-use wear, head band is missing, approx. 90% finish remains on batter box, 95% on nickel plated lamp. Lens is mint and original. <<

fits onto the funnel shaped piece snugly by by twisting the pieces together. I see no evidence of the ring attaching to anything else, but maybe slid over thin walled pipe(less than 1/8", but no evidence of solder). Dave

I'll go along with that. Didn't see "cast iron" in the original description that I posted to, however.
(Maybe it's part of that BBQ evildave was talking about a while back! <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D"> )

Hey Dave, Just a guess, but it reminds me of the top an ash tray. The kind that sat on a pedestal, the ring maybe being a securing device to another part(or Bowl) that it would sit in.
