Stormy day at the river-2 Sterling silver ear rings & clad

I got to the river late yesterday and the place was so crowded I had to go into a non productive area. Produced tons of pop tops and pull tabs and one dime. It started raining and thundering and most of the people left except about 20. There were well over 100 people at the lake/river yesterday. I eased under the dock and found a few more clad and then eased out by one of the buoys and got this sweet low hit and 4 inches down I found the smallest ear ring. Almost threw it back into the water due to it being so dark and wearing my sun glasses. A few feet away, another whisper of sound and I found the larger ear ring, at 6 inches deep. I was getting a signal from what I believe to be a chain in neck deep water and the waves were beating me up pretty good. Then I saw the fattest lightning bolt I've ever seen and it was time to go. The chain will be there next time. Found a hook, and sinkers, bullets and everything else. The two ear rings turned a frustrated day into a great day, find wise. Anytime I get to detect, is a great day. Without modifying my scoop, these would still be in the river. My Garrett head phones were acting up and I'm glad I had the Grey Ghost head phones on and I usually turn them down a little in trashy areas, but glad I had them turned up by the buoy. Might have missed the little whisper.

Wow, I'm really impressed that you were able to detect and recover those earrings in the moving water! I'd say you've got your mo-jo working!!

You are really getting good at this! :clapping: Its sure been a blessing to have you on the Forum and following your adventures!

Thanks everybody. Should have seen the small white caps when the storm came in. Probably were not a foot high, but it was something for fresh water. Nothing like the surf lots of you have to deal with.
I used the diamond tester I bought for the first time yesterday and if I tested it correctly, both these ear rings and the cross I found had real diamonds. I use the diamond selector 2 and it said if the light is red it's real diamonds.
I'm really surprised to see diamonds on sterling silver jewelry. I'm going to print up some charts showing the different cuts of diamonds and the carat size and mm size. I plan to measure them and make sure I have the carat size and temperature right when I set the level and make sure.
Heading back to the river Wednesday or Thursday and hope after the 4th of July to find some more gold. If I can get there early, I'm taking my snorkel and mask and trying to get past the buoy. Lots of people swim out to the buoy and back and I've found 3 good items in this area. I can get out another foot or so and just still be able to detect and breathe and this will open up new areas my coil can cover. HH.

That's good hustle Fongu!! I look forward to seeing a picture of that chain signal when you get back out to the buoy!! And fat lightning does make a fellow get while the gettin's good!!!:bouncy:

Hopefully, I'm heading back in the am. Hope the guy with the PI unit hasn't dug anymore craters or found the chain. I'm not greedy, tho.
