Storing of Detectors

lerafe

Member
Hello All,
Like many here, I have 3 detectors and a couple extra coils. I am looking for ways of storing my detectors in my "man cave". The have been just setting in the middle of the room.
Any good ideas?
Thanks,
Lee

Flat stock stained with wood pegs for open coil types..... hang em on the pegs.

Got a gun rack?

i store mine in our back unused stairwell..... i took a piece of 1x6 x5ft long ,scewed it to beams in wall..then i took half inch conduit straps attached to board, bent straps out at 90 degree angle..... my machines with open loop coils i just hang coil side up ...my other machines i took short piece of nylon rope and tied a noose on both ends and then hung rope on hook......my extra coils i hang in the cellar stairwell....... i put larger hooks into the wall then took wire clothes hangers,,cut part of the bottom out and bent little hooks on the ends to fit into the coil mounting holes ,,wrap coil wire up and place hanger hook onto wall... its a little redneck but serves the purpose......... if you want to do a neat hanging job for your mancave you might consider those nice looking wall mount hooks they use at guitar stores to hang guitars....good luck....

I had thought of that but was not sure how the would fit, I may try to get ahold of one and give it a try

If you don't want to mess with hole in the wall, I saw this one made of 1/2" PVC. You would only need half of this one for 3 detectors.

I had thought of just putting up a shelf with some pretty large "U" shape slots spaced properly apart.
Then with the coils mounted to the detector just slip the lower mounting stem through the slot placing the coil on top of the shelf and letting the detector hang.
I even thought of maybe using a double board shelf (two shelf boards close together) that way the upper shelf would be flat and you could put extra coils and other detecting items on it.

Depends if you want them out for show, if so one of the above will work. But in my case the wife doesn't see the beauty in a metal detector, I know that is hard to believe but it is true. So for me it is clean them, pull the batteries bag them and stuff them in a closet.

Just try to keep them out of the trunk, not a good place to store detectors.

So True Jerry, and to save them from the dreaded "I don't know how the arm cup got broke" as groceries are being removed.

I have mine in the garage on the wall - keeps the wife happy. Everbilt Clamp Wall Rack for $18 at Home Depot.

I have a 1970's era gun cabinet. My dad had it custom made. Maple cabinet with glass doors. Looks very nice, but not safe for storing guns. This is used for storing my detectors and equipment. The top two glass doors store the actual detectors and the bottom two wood doors keep my misc. equipment.

I like that I dea, I went with a similiar design thatI made just with wood and a various size/shaped "hangers" that I got from Farbor Frieght. But your ideas seems and looks ,ore orginized and more secure way of hanging them

I used a couple of pieces of 2 inch strapping and cut to size (4 pieces). Made it into a frame and attached a large piece of pegboard to it. Finished the outsides with 1/2 inch corner moulding, mitred, and painted it all to match the walls. Used metal hangers to hang my detectors and coils. It looks great, the detectors are easy to get to you, and for me it makes a nice display.
