storing md in trunk question

Ok I have seen some advice that I need to clarify.

1 - always keep your MD in your car, you never know when you will stumble by a good site.
2 - don't keep your MD in the trunk in the heat (I live in Atlanta and it is hot from spring through fall.

I don't want to keep in the backseat where all can see and possibly steal. I guess I will just always have to get used to finding trees to park under on my daily errands.
What do you guys do who keep it in the car during the summer months?

I keep mine in my truck toolbox all the time. The aluminum reflects the sunlight pretty dang good gets warm inside but never really hot about 85 degrees in side when its 100 out side in the direct sun.

if you store your detector in the car, make sure you properly ventilate the car from the sun!..keep the windows cracked, and park the car always in the shade to lower the temperature inside the car..heat and friction are the enemies of electronic devices.
