Go! that's a good bitch! I thought these were just as absolutist attitudes typical of my country and the descendants of our 40 years of dictatorship. Here in Spain it is forbidden on the beaches of Andalucia, unless you get a permit. I fear that soon the thinkers who govern us do extended to other communities, at least you can turn to Commissioner Murray J,
I wish you luck

Hi John,

I responded to Casper-1 's same petition plea on Treasuredepot.com asking for some sort of verification since I could not find anything online concerning a change in MA Commonwealth codes. I got an ambivalent answer. The current code states:

CMR 304 12.11

"No Person shall use or offer to use metal detectors on Department property except at the discretion of the area Supervisor on designated swimming beaches and designated campsites. The Director may issue a special use permit authorizing archaeologically-related or geologically related activities."

The story goes that a friend of his was threatened by a ticket by a park ranger recently, yet the petition states the edict will not go in effect until July 2014. Something doesn't seem right. Before I sign anything to bother an assemblyman/senator/legislator/Secretary/etc., I need to know whether what I'm signing is true.

Look, I hope this is all "hokeum"...really; but can you verify that this is a legitimate "cause"? I metal detect in MA frequently and enjoy the opportunities. Thanks!

John and all,
I think it's time for us to organize. The hunters have the NRA watching their backs; we need a similar organization that has the clout to prevent the local busy-bodies from imposing their will on our freedoms! Do we have any existing organizations that we can join and support that have sway in Washington?? Enough is enough! Let's put a stop to this harassment and BS!
Let's organize and tell them where we'll metal detect!

if you do not STOP THIS NOW this will happen all over.
I'm always ask who said you can do that here, I'm going to ask if this is legal and what happens to the stuff you find it should be turned over to the police it is not yours.
always by someone who has more time on their hands then they know what to do with. I do not hunt in school yards anymore for this reason. I only hunt on beaches and lakes (public) and I'M THE PUBLIC I PAY MY TAXES.

Please, people...do the research in to the regulations...read; I mean READ the regulations. Don't feed in to internet gossip, rumors, and hearsay. There is nothing in the draft regulations that affects the beaches. And, to those who haven't responded to my original post asking for clarification of the regulations (none BTW), thanks (sarcasm).
