stock SE Slimline coil problem ????

Hi guys, ? for anyone who has had or even heard of this problem

The stock SE slimline coil when used on any machine being E2, SE etc... will start going crazy after i turn sensitivity past 12. 13 an above it makes noise, vdi jumps all over the board. now if i swing coil it will stop but as soon as i stop swinging it again goes nuts. I have inspected the wire, coil for cracks, cleaned coil and cover, tried in auto sense (same reaction as above anything over 12 sense goes nuts even in auto), tried changing channels manually and auto, tried with coil in air and on (clean) ground. this does this regardless of the ground, area, emi etc... i moreless kno the coil is possibly bad in some way obviously, but does anyone happen to maybe kno why? Thanks for any input

Ill also add that at 12 sensitivity and under in manual or auto sense it works perfectly fine. it will even hit a 10" deep quarter no problem. 13 and above it will hit it also as long as im swinging the coil but once i stop it acts up. i kno this is basically what i said above but im just trying to give a clear idea on what it does.

Try a factory reset, holding down the power button at startup,as you probably know but many forget about. Also a different coil to test with?.....

IDX its the coil cause i tried it on 4 different machines and it does the same thing on all of them. i even recently tried it on a etrac. same result. Any other coil works just fine. Its ok im listing an Explorer SE for sale soon and was going to sell it with the slimline coil but since that coil dont work properly im just goin to sell with a pro coil. Pro coil is way better anyway!! Thanks for the suggestion tho.... its an odd problem that i have never heard of or seen before and as much searching ive done to find if anyone has had the same problem, to get an idea what may be the cause . Its simply a bad coil in some way or another.

Yeah, sounds like you've got it covered...these things take some abuse so who knows,if it doesn't work right that's what matters. Good move selling a different one with the machine, some guys wouldn't be so honest about it. Most people are good when it comes to selling though,I've had great experiences through the different forums.

I once bought an Explorer SE with the slimline coil. I was told not to buy any of the Slimline coils that had a serial # below 4000. I think that the later coils were better?

all problems that I saw on slim coils is just bad technology by rubberizing coil connector, just take all rubber off from coil connector and precisely separate all four wires and you will have good coil again. Simple just cut off connector and re solder without all rubber. Secret found by me ). Good luck and let us know.

My slimline works fine. I usually run manual sensitivity 26-28. As far as bad performance I have no complaints.
