Still working with the Compadre now my neighbor has one

I've had the Compadre since the day before Christmas Eve 2013. Been working both with headphones and without. Frankly the headphones, at least the ones I got from Kellyco, are a pain. The fit is a bit loose and the cable could be longer. When I just want to wander around the yard and find stuff it's speaker only and the finds are good. Time spent with the unit has been valuable. I've learned to gauge the size of the find before digging saving me loads of time with all the old pipes in the yards. We must have a maze of them under ground here. For the money spent the Compadre has been an excellent value. I've not felt that I'm missing targets or losing out because of lacking a screen or pinpointing circuit in the unit. I did purchase a small rain cover found on Amazon that works just great. Also added a coil cover held on with two small Velcro ties around the coil through the center hole. Judging by the scrapes on it from concealed concrete chunks in brushy areas it was a good idea. Over all I'm very pleased with the purchase and have even turned my neighbor on to a Compadre. After finding that 1909 Barber half dollar in his yard a few weeks back I got his attention. He was heading to Orlando for work and stopped by Kellyco at my suggestion. I had warned him "just ask for the Compadre and get out of there before they contaminate you with more expensive brands" Sure enough they tried and he simply said he was just picking one up for somebody else and had no interest. That got the salesman off his back and he was able to happily buy his Compadre. He is finding lots of stuff but is still learning the unit. His yard is well dug up now since he is still learning how to dig the holes too. I've also had the privilege of doing some hunting with a very experienced metal detector friend. I've managed to hold my own against his older yet high end Garrett and his Minelab relic machine. His suggestions on technique have been very helpful in locating smaller deeper targets. It's been great to hunt with someone who knows the game well. So I'll be continuing on with the Compadre always hoping I can find something great. The next beep could be it :surprised:

Pound for pound and ounce for ounce the Compadre is the best detector for the money. It doesn't miss much.

Sales people will try to talk you into something different, because there's not a lot of profit margin in the Comparde.
