There's an est 1851 church not far from here and I've been wanting to hunt it for a while.
Today I knew I'd be going by it so I threw the detectors in the van.
When I got there I noticed there isn't any shade and it's 96 degrees so I knew this wasn't going to be pleasant.
I was right... after about a hour the heat had just about killed me...:stretcher:
This site might have some possibilities for this winter..:detecting:
Lots of good coin tones... but the ground was so hard I broke the blade on my digging knife on the first target.
Damn.... I've been digging with that knife for 20+ years.:cry::cry:
So I resorted to a screwdriver but after 10 minutes on one hole I gave up.
:surrender:
I'm sure the target was a coin but I was only down 3" and it was like digging in concrete.
I did have a relic shovel in the van but these targets can wait.
I figure the quickest way to get banned from a property is to be seen digging with a shovel.
So I guess I'll wait for cooler weather and some rain.... Hope it's soon !!!!!
I'm going through detecting withdrawals...

Mike
