Still trying to learn -

these soccer type fields and detecting. Going out again with my friend Ed tomorrow and try again. Ed and another guy here have had good luck over the years at them - I was with the other guy twice and saw it. Any advice on doing them ? Steve in so az

Soccor Fields the same as you always hunt....the only thing is that they are very hard packed, especially if there isn't any rain, and harder to dig through to the deeper coins. I just use an ice pick or screwdriver to pop the coins out just at the roots of the grass or shallower ones.

You do so good in detecting, I'm not sure why you can't do it....but maybe you go faster in ground that's easier digging and therefore find a lot more in a shorter time. The digging is what slows a person in the hard packed ground that's like concrete! Ball fields, soccor fields, school yards, and parks in dry weather can be a doozies to hunt and dig out the coins quickly without messing up the grass and grounds...but you can do it....so say a prayer, grit your teeth, put your chin up and go for those rings & coins. Ya'll get em! :D :)

God Bless & Happy :detecting:

I think there's not much silver coinage to be found ( which is true) plus I get a lot more return for my time in the sand & chipbark. Kind of the same thing you are saying. So I'll try it as places are getting harder to find around here. steve

Check the sidelins first! Just off the field. Where all the parents and players stand. Most soccer shorts don't have pockets so you won't find as much on the field. Then in and around the goals was always my next to try! Find the good stuff! :)

did by the nets (figuring the guy blocking the goal threw himself and his 'stuff' around). Found part of a watch in the center of the field - guess when they gathered to kick the ball someone lost part of his watch. Did find some coins around the nets. Ya know there is probably items where people set up lawn chairs to watch the game from the side lines.

Don't forget around any restrooms and where food might have been sold.

Regulations do not allow players to wear any jewerly on the field.
So what happens when they forget? It ends up in the parents lap
over on the sidelines.
