Still trying to figure out the FE numbers

Here are three of my silver finds. I tried numerous silver coins...seated, barbers, walking liberties and got the same numbers...12-44 - 12-46. I then tried the 1867 one peso and got a 4-46 and the locket a 1-46. Does the quality of silver determine the FE number?

I don't think it's the quality, but the mass (amount of silver under the coil) that determines the FE number...

Most of the posts I've read list an FE of 12 for silver dimes and quarters, but the silver halfs and dollars
have a very low FE number of 1 thru 3...

I think the mass has more to do with it.
Dollar coins , the big ones , seem to read 06 and lower on the CTX and etrac both.
Stack 3 or 4 quarters together and see the result

Typically, the Fe value is the resistivity of the target skin -

Wrong, wrong, wrong

Resistivity and conductance are reciprocal opposites of the same thing. (glass is half full or empty)

The Fe numbers simply refer to the iron content (magnetic properties) of the target and even then, is not all that accurate or reliable with the Minelab TID system. Just about all metals have some amount of iron, and the Fe number will change with what search mode you are using as well, Minelab is just trying to give you a number to work with. Look at Diggers TID chart for different Mode TIDs. The Fe will vary from 1 to 12 on the same target depending on what filtering mode you are using.
