Still swinging the Butterfly coil

and loven it. I have been using the S.E.F. 10x12 coil for awhile now and have used it all over the place. No it does not do trash, but out in the open it covers alot ground and misses very little. This clad is from my last few hunts. The heat around here does not let you hunt for very long. Today it got up to 104 degrees and I did not even try to do a hunt. Just staying home until it cools down outside. HH Dennis in Idaho

Amazing!! Pretty soon you'll have enough to buy the whole cow instead of just a gallon of milk. Sounds like you've got a new coil that will stay close to your detector in large areas. Good going Dennis and thanks for sharing. HH to all, Nancy P.S. I love to see so many nickels! :yikes:

I have had the SEF out a couple of times also. Yep, don't take it to a trashy park!!! I did go to my worked out CW camp site to check the depth, althou no deep targets were found, I did manage to get a 1877s Seated dime a farmer lost in the past, it was at 4". The SEF is like having 2 of the 6x10 DD coils side by side, great coverage!!!!! I'm hoping to that when we get more rain here that I can find some deep targets, my hope is that it will out hunt the heavy Super 12 that I had............MO

Mo, do you have the 10x12 SEF? I have never used the Super 12 coil so I was unable to compare its weight to my 10x12 coil. HH Dennis in Idaho

Yea, I have the 10x12, sure seems lighter and better balanced than the super 12. I pounded a CW camp site with a MXT & super 12, only had targets down to 7-8". I went back with a Xterra 70 with the 10.5DD and a T2, I found 3 ring minies at 10-12". I really like the way the MXT hunts, especily with having the DX 1 Probe on it too. I really hope that the SEF will get down there to the 10-12" level of the other 2 machines

I was out yesterday with the new 10x12 butterfly and WOW it is sensitive!!! I got .22 bullets at 6" with it. Still no targets past the 7-8" level thou. It is bone dry in Missouri now and we need some rain. Like I thought, it has twice the coverage as the 6x10 with the weight of the stock 950. Seperation equals the 6x10., MO

S.E.F. stands for Symmetric Electronic Magnectic Field. Don't ask me what that means because I don't have a clue. The only thing I can tell you is that it is a good coil and I am enjoying using it. HH Dennis in Idaho

Fred I have used the coil for most of the season here and I am happy with it. I have located coins as deep as 9 inches, but the majority of coins were the 4 to 6 inch range. Yes the coil is large. It was designed to cover large areas mostly free of trash such as corn fields, sports fields for football, baseball, just to name a few. It was not designed to hunt areas that your 6" DD coil was designed to hunt, like heavy trash areas, tots lots, parks etc. So far this coil has lived up to its hype and I can't wait to take it relic hunting this fall.. Dennis, How Does it compare to 12" super that comes with the MXT 300 ? in your opinion is it worth the investment ?
I have a few locations that were supposedly CW camp sites.and am planing my trips for the fall when it cools down some.
your experience and comments are helpful in my decision. I also use the ^" DD for trash areas and it seems to work well.

Thanks
RL

I have never used the 12 coil and I don't know anyone that uses one, so I can't compare them. I have only used the 10x12 SEF Excelerator coil for coin shooting so far and have not been able to get out and do any relic hunting. HH Dennis in Idaho
