Does anyone remember how soon in advance Teknetics (or other companies for that matter) say they are releasing a new model? I mean it's December and it doesn't make sense to make an announcement now. With the release of the AT Pro (and Dankowski's good review of it) Teknetics should release something in response to it. The market really seems to be moving towards mid priced and high performance machines.

redesigning the same ole, same ole, wouldn't it be nice if F/T came out with a complete new detector.
Myself I think they can build the best detector on the market.

Light weight frame, The frame they now use mostly is perfect..
Super depth capabilities,
Ground Tracking,
Back light,
Several levels of adjusting for different avenues in detecting. Ie..Coin, Relic, Salt water beach...(.Tracking would do the salt) Screen switches to each mode.

Multi Frequencies Like the Cz had ... 5 for low ,15 for Jewelry and nickles, or even different low high settings.
Multiple coil sizes 5" 8" 11" DD
Pinpoint

I had a chance to see an AT in action this morning, and it does have really good depth and some other good characteristics. Not any more depth, if quite as much, as the T's and F's of F T, but seemingly close. The cons that have been posted are definite cons, but probably tolerable considering the pro's for the price. What if they built a coil with a sort of extra gooseneck shaft and pinpoint coil that would extend out a few inches in front of the searchcoil and feed ground info into a pre circuit and seperate chip to gain an advance and seperate ground mineral reading. Just seperate it completely from the main searchcoil and it's circuit except for feeding it's info into the mix. Get the GB SAT or any other ground reading that the machine needs from a little pinpointer type coil... then use all the processing power of the main circuit, chip, and searchcoil for detecting and TID power.

I just wonder if removing the ground mineral reading from the searchcoil circuit might open doors to better detecting... Maybe it makes no sense, but it is just a thought.

Either that or a riding detector with a 36" searchcoil... and a small backhoe built onto the back. :beers:

Seriously though, I wonder if removing ground mineral reading from the main circuit and searchcoil might free up power for better detecting. Even one more inch or seriuosly better unmasking at an affordable price will be a game changer until something other than VLF and PI comes along... and it will eventually.

Then again, I really hope we never get a detector that will show us exactly what is in the ground in a visual display. That would take all the skill and fun out of detecting... at that point we may as well be walking in a ditch pickin up cans.

Time to move forward and make a new flagship get the G2 it is great

I will respectfully disagree with the G2 suggestions. It for sure is one of the fastest detectors out there, but it is not one of the deepest. It's forte is in iron and as a gold machine. It may do well on coins but First Texas would be shooting themselves in the foot if they marketed a great coin machine as a "Gold Bug". I mean those who know these machines would buy it but the name would alienate most.

I'm looking forward to a G2 fast and Minelab/T2LTD deep machine coming out from Teknetics/Fisher with some programability.

I have enough relic hunting machines, I need a flagship low frequency machine that's hot on silver!

Starting to think about an ET

Well the G2 at token park pulled some tokens and silver out for me Rybo was blown away at the targets I found. There is no end to this machine I have not posted all my videos because on two trips to the city my camera broke down too much dirt that gets into the lens and the camera won't open. But yeah coin machine...it gets targets the LTD has missed and hits real hard on them. Maybe they gave me a hot machine but I don't even use the 8000 anymore. Still love the LTD but for my soil even in golden gate park the G2 is better in iron and faster.

It is as deep as my LTD that is the G2 but the 5DD on the G2 can't even come close to the LTD and the 5DD. No it is not a coin machine and is not sold that way and I was asked to test it as a gold machine. Then they saw some of my videos and asked me to test it as a relic machine. I was not expecting it to hit on coins the way it does. In iron yes it is fast as the LTD and gives me a lot of info but what ever works for you is the right machine for you and for me. Nasa Tom still gives a thumbs up for the LTD as the bast machine in his soil he has tried the G2 and the omega and the T2 and just about most of the best machines out there. I know he is finding coins with the LTD. I found the G2 to be a very basic machine a split tone so all the power goes into the coil and when it hits the ground it lights the earth up with those walked over missed targets. Funny how they never really sold it as the detector that it is becoming. It is almost like they let you find out on your own what it can do. It may be the higher Freq but it acts like a high freq and a low freq machine. I took it to the caslte and even Crosby was amazed at the relics I pulled out. He has hunted there with me at least two to three times. I think there may be a new coin machine in the future that will even be better then the 8000 even no the 8000 is both a great relic and coin hunter the G2 is far better and faster and unmaskes better. If I didn't own the 8000 I would not say that.

You are so right about that F75 5", Low-Boy.

I've been keeping that 5" on my LTD most of the time because a decent percentage of my hunts are in high trash areas that call for a small coil and that LTD sniper is such a great coil.

Not counting the Compadre, I've had four detectors with additional small coils and none of them were anywhere close to the performance of the F75 LTD's.

It will be very, very, hard to beat the 5DD on the LTD. It is so deep and fast and unmasking in iron and trash...wow!!!! That is why I use the LTD and the G2 I have the best machines for any kind of hunting. I use the 8000 for friends that want to hunt with me because it runs so quite and is a great all around machine you can't beat what it does for the price. What is next???? I am having too much fun with my two machines to want a new toy and finding all kinds of history.

I also like the 8000, and now the G2. It is super fast and very responsive. I think the next step for the Omega may be a Omega 8000 LTD with Boost and Cache mode.

Really nice report/reply Low Boy.

I'm a bit shocked by what you say, but not so much that I don't believe you. In particular with regards to the depth. It is amazing to hear that machines so fast are also deep. And it's true what Dave Johnson said regarding hitting the conductors regardless of frequency (Well, within some limits of course).

I'm more than happy at how my Omega works in iron. So, I can appreciate what you say in your comparison.

I am sooooo looking forward to what that next coin machine is going to be. I wouldn't mind it to be a CZ (dual frequency machine), boy would that be nice. And of course something we can tweak the settings of, trigger, backlight...

Anyone notice how comparing the same brand of detector but different models is ok on Finds? Well, what if it hurts my feelings. :crylol:

It has been a long time since I have hear the word Coin Machine. I really got into relics about eight years ago and of course I always have coins on the back of my mind when hunting. So it would have to be a Relic/Coin machine for me to buy one. Where ever I hunt there is always a chance of coins but that is due to maybe more of the places I hunt. The G2 has been a great coin and relic hunter and I understand with the 5DD it is a great gold machine. I can understand why a deep, deep coin machine would be great and is long over due. But it may be that they will make a new relic/coin detector with different freq that can hunt super deep and unmaskes iron and has a fast recovery. I would say the LTD, and the G2 come real close but they can be improved as can every machine out there.

Time will tell who will make the next machine but it seems Relic/Coins are the way the machines are going now.

I agree with you and I should have added Relic/Coin. Even though I hunt for coins the areas I hunt are full of relics! I just don't know much about what I find. eheheh I found a small beer keg tap this season from the 1700 or 1800's, that was cool and I think it will still work! My Omega hits on the high conductors excellent but not on the low. I do find musket balls down to 5" or so, but they sound irony usually when they are move than 2" deep it seems - mixed sounding hit. When I had the T2 they were solid, so I know the lower frequency of the Omega is not as conducive to the lows.

I really wish I would have tried a T2 V6.5 as my V6 didn't see to get great depth on coins. I wonder now if my Omega is still better on coins than the later T2's as I really miss the feel of that machine.

Regarding the machine, I like how the AT Pro hits on all the conductors equally. I think we are seeing that with the G2 now. I'm only going by what I read. It does seem like 12 - 15kHz is better all round (relics/coins) than 8kHz. If they do make a CZ I wonder which two frequencies they would use? Winter is nice for these talks...

edit - Just to add about a new machine, I hope they put a volume control on it. I take my grey ghosts off to hunt and often hit the volume knobs. It would be easier to tape them down and adjust them at the machine. My next headphones (depending on my next machine) will not have volume control (or if they do I'd like a pair that can lock at a certain level.)
