I hope to get out with it today for the 1st time in a park, ball feild instead of an old farm i have hunted all the time , will be looking for gold sens 40 disq 40 or in all metal sens15 thresh +5 lets see

Good luck with the hunt. If you hit the totlot, might drop disc to 38. I have found a small gold chain that bounced between low tone and high tone when set at 40 and was too small to provide a consistent id. At 38, the chain was a consistent faint high tone. Hope this helps.

i will do that 38 disq, I know today all the foils were coming in the 40.s but the number helps I,D i was hunting at sens 40 disq 40 but i still cant resist digging the iron when its giving a good near surface i have a compulsion to clean it up .

Drop your discrimination more, if you set your disc too high your detector will be masking out good targets.
You will still hear the bad targets with lower discrimination, you will also hear a lot more good targets that lie closer to the trash.
(40 is too high a discrimination setting to use if your a coin and jewelry hunter as that setting masks out good targets.)
