Still learning what she is telling me

I was warned there was a small learning curve on the 3030 and that has definitely been true.

I literally was swinging a no bells and whistles Compadre. That means having a screen is new to me but listening carefully is not. I'm running GH's settings in auto +2 sensitivity. Typically when you hit something with the Compadre the signal can easily be repeated. It is much less common to hear tone and not be able to repeat it (although the 'ghosts' are out there). With the 3030 this is more common and I frequently have times where I can't repeat whatever I just got chatter from (or have to make several swings to get it to repeat). I've also noticed that when multiple targets are showing, the lowest tone usually is what is heard. The machine is absolutely more sensitive as I'm hunting in my front yard and I'm finding a lot of clad that I missed with the Compadre.

All this being said; it seems that clad type targets hit hard, reliably, and consistently. I haven't spent enough time digging the targets that aren't repeating to find out what I'm missing.

Just some early observations with only a couple short hours on my CTX.

Typically if your target isn't repeating consistently its a pretty good indication of trash. That being said if there's trash next to a good target or its a coin on edge next to trash it an be a little tricky but the coin should still repeat audio consistently. Sounds like your unrepeatable targets are being discriminated out or partially out. Try setting your second screen "wide open" (no disc.) and double check those targets. Another thing that could possible cause those one hitter quitters is having the sensitivity just a little too high. Try to take note of the machines recommended sensitivity as this will give you a good indication as to how mineralized your ground is. Auto +2 or +3 is what I usually run. Oh yeah... I almost forgot. Sometimes EMI can cause chattering too. Be sure to noise cancel on occasion especially if you're covering lots of ground. Hope I could help...

I'm running wide open with GH's settings. I'll try bumping sensitivity down to +1. +3 seems a bit too high usually and I had better luck with +2. Good suggestion on noise cancelling. I'll give that a try. I was hoping that I wasn't missing coins masked by an iron object, but the inability to reliably hit the same signal lead me to believe that I was dealing with trash. I'm going to dig these signals in the future, but your post helps to be a bit of confirmation that I am probably not missing anything.
