Still hittin' those exposed lakebeds

I headed out Saturday morning, right at 6:00am and drove out to a lake I hardly ever hunt 'cuz it's a 155 mile round trip. The fog was pretty dense most of the way, but I was dead set to go there, something just told me good finds awaited me. I started out with the AT Pro, stock coil and Killer B 'phones. I hunted 2 hr's with this rig and the going was rough. This spot is a "party cove" for the local teens and the beer cans and bottlecaps were quite abundant. Someone had been there before and had dug some craters and left cans lying about. I found one ring not a foot away from one of his craters. I filled in the holes and piled up as many of the cans as I could. Anyway, here's the take with this setup. Got 2 nice silver rings.

So, next I switched over to my AT Pro with the 6 x 9 coil, underwater Gray Ghost 'phones, and Plugger straight shaft. I hunted another 2 hrs. with this setup and at least the bottlecaps weren't so annoying. It doesn't get the depth of the stock coil, so I guess it's a trade off not to hear those BC's. Here's the take using this setup. Got 2 more nice silver rings...and a plastic one eyeballed!!

Well, the 4 hrs. hunting pretty much wasted me since this is only my second hunt after being laid up with a bad hoof. Oh yeah, I mustn't forget the trash!! Some of this was from last week too!!

Here's my assistant helping me get the shot set up. She wanted to balance them all on the edges, but I told her they should all lie flat. She told me I had no flair!!!

And a closeup of the 4 silver rings!!

I've also attached a short video link. As you can see, I need some serious work on my videography!!!

Nice rings BigCat!

nice finds. first you need to work on posting your vidieo. i couldn't find it.

HH

BigCat I notice you are using both Gray Ghost and Killer-B headphones with your ATPro's. I will be ordering new headphones shortly and was wondering if you could give me your preference. I have never used either and see peoples giving their opinions of one or the other. Wondering your expert opinion as you use both... Thanks...

Like 'em both. The GG's you see are the underwater 'phones so I can get 'em wet if I had to. The Killer B's have volume control, none on the GG's if that makes a difference to ya. The land GG's may have a volume, not sure about that.

Thanks BigCatDaddy. I am still undecided at this time...

Nice hunt, BCD! Looks like a beautiful day to be out there. I see you have a helper-cat, too - Tigger always does his part, especially when changing sheets, etc.
Thanks for posting the video, too, always nice to see where folks are hunting.

WTG, BCD,
The low lake I went to looked like a mine field so many had been there before me, I got a lousy 4 pennies..
Early birds got the good stuff and left there holes..

Nice hunt!:garrett::detecting:Congrats on the silver!:beers: Beautiful rings!:clapping:
Thanks for sharing!:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

 Hey that's funny. Our lil' fur babies like to "help" with things like changin' the sheets and stuff, too.:wiggle:
Sometimes I feel like those cats consider us to be their pets.

Now that sounds like the kinda place ya need to hit with a PI machine.:garrett::detecting:

Oh yes, Miss Anniekin Catwalker is quite the assistant. Not only can she balance rings on edge, she is also stealth equipped. She just magically appears all the time. You look down and there she is. Downright spooky!!!

Look for spots that don't look very inviting to most detectorists. If you go to the main parts, chances are someone else has already hit it and got most of the loot. Those out of the way spots can produce quite nicely sometimes. When swim season starts again. make a trip out and see where the people go that is not the main swim area. I see detectorists do that all of the time, not just at lakes, but parks too. They jump out of the car and head right for the tot lots, whatever attracts the most activity. After a short while of finding little or nothing, off they go. Meanwhile, I'm hunting anywhere but those tot lots and raking in the loot.
