still having problems with coins with safari any help?

Hello I'm finding clad no problem i buried an Indian head 5 inches and had went over it and over it and nothing but on the ground i get a hit and lift the detector 5 inches or more and hits fine seems like the dirt is giving me problems finding old coins i use auto sense and i GB b4 and during my day can anyone please help why wont it pick it up when it is in the ground in coin mode? or coin/jewelry thanks

if you are having trouble with depth in your soil - try running manual sensitivity up until just before it is no longer stable - try 16 manual - and see if you can get that penny signal. maybe you have really tough soil conditions which limits depth. it is possibly normal that re-buried pennies may not register at 5 inches on auto if it is tough soil conditions - my 2 cents

Run manual Sensitivity to about 17. If it's not trashy set the level at Low and learn the best sweep speed. make sure you have a "proper" Threshold audio set.

You may , or may not , be doing this , but there are some folks who wave their coils pretty high off the soil to make it easier for them ....This will add depth to a target that you are trying to read ....Run your coil on the ground where you will be closer to your target .....You have a coil cover that is very inexpensive ....If you scratch it up , buy a new one .....You will see that your finds will increase ..... Ask me how I know .....Jim

Coil Cover? I don't have or use one of those. I guess reading this I would say how much damage will be done to the coil if you don't have a cover. How would you know if your coil is damaged?

If you have a pro coli - there may be on there and you do not know it. You sure there is there is not one on there? I hardly noticed mine until it was pointed out to me.

I have the stock 11" coil that came with the Safari. There doesn't look like that is any kind of cover on it.

The cover is very difficult to see. It almost looks like part of the coil. tr is a very thin black piece of plastic snapped very snug to the bottom half of the coil. It can be removed. If you do not have one - get one. Only a few bucks.
