Still getting pull tabs and some foil

I have x'd out everything but coins. So why do I still keep digging up pull tabs and some foil?
Are there other settings to make?
Thanks!

I think the preset coin pattern is set for all kinds of coins not just US ones.. you would have to build your own coin pattern for just US ones.... read the manual under learn mode and make one if thats what you want to do.. but in trash and iron those settings may miss some coins.. better off listening to everything till you learn what coins sound like and where they read on the smart screen...

I appreciate the input.
I'll check out the learn mode. For some reason I never thought about it being for more than just U.S. coins. Duh.
One of these days I may be a real good detector.

Make sure you turn down the sensitvity to around 1 or 2 manual so you dont get any stray signals that will mess up your pattern. Also dont go across the coil, but go in a out at the center of the coil so it dont pick up the coin on the edge of the coil or you will get other areas learned or rejected that you dont want. This will make you a very clean pattern.

Rick,
Can you elaborate on how to make a pattern cleaner. I have been working getting a US coin pattern, much like what TonyN will be doing. I keep getting stray marks and interference.
What is your technique for getting a pattern clean? Do you use small or medium cursor?
Terry

When you use the preset discs. for tabs or whatnot, it will eliminate representative samples, but some tabs which signal on the outskirts of the black area will still come through, or unusually bent, broken or odd sized ones.

I would use a large cursor to accept things.. gives it a little more room for error.. however for rejecting things I use the smallest cursor.. if your making just a coin accept pattern then use the biggest one.. I would also do it outside at a very low sensitivity setting and do a noise cancel before starting.. if you have an X1 probe.. use it instead of the coil.. less chance for spikes off the edge of the coil

Terry,
Like Jim was saying to take it out side if you have to to get away from any interference, but turn down the sensitivity as low as you can so you will not pick up the target on the edges of the coil or more than one time as higher sensitivity might get several signals in differnt places, this is another reason why you go in and out with the target in the center of the coil too and not accross it. Doing this you will have a clean pattern. I use the medium cursor when I accept and a small one for reject.
