Still doesn't work right

About a month ago I posted about my XT70, the numbers jumping all over, and not locking on to anything. I got a lot of suggestions, but none of them worked. So I sent it in the 1st of this month. The service was fine, they called when they received it, and when it was shipped.and it came when they said it would,. but it still doesn't work right. On coins the numbers jump all over, and in 99 sounds the sounds jump around., I've put coins down, on the ground, air tested, it just doesn't give one or two numbers, it jumps all over the scale.I've tried about everything imaginable, and what people here suggested, but nothing works. I'm kinda ticked off. Sorry, I had to gripe a little.to someone.

Sorry to hear about that. Must be really frustrating. I hope you can send it right back to them, they shouldn't have sent it back to you like that.

Are you testing it in your house. Try turning the sensitivity down . Take it outside and try it on a place that is clear of all metal and try it. Mine is jumpy in the house because there is metal everywhere.

I've tried it inside, outside, different places outside changed sensitivity, ground balanced different places, I'me tried everything I can think of.

No, I haven't tried another coil. I sent this (Med freq DD} in with the detector, so I assume it was tested ok.

You are not wearing a watch or a ring when you air test? Metal buttons or snaps?

Just a thought.

Jumpy readings that are not repeatable on the ground is usually iron, even if you are not in all metal mode.

Good luck

Then do it with another coil, and Auto Noise Cancel(Menu Select-scroll and find Noise Cancel-press Mode Auto then release, wait until it finishes), turn your sensitivity right down very low to about 1 to 8 or so, then test it outside in a park or field away from your normal spot. If all else fails send it back again!

My X-70 works fine almost right under power lines.

When I am getting jumpy #s there is iron near the target. I SEEMS to be worse with the DDs than the stocker. I regularly check the signal in all metal to get some idea of how close the junk is.

When you are testing a soin on the ground do you check the spot in AM?

What amazes me is how much junk is in the ground. A friend who has a X70 has found bolts in the middle of Montana 50 miles from any where.

Best of luck
Jeff

Yes, Turnmaster, I've checked in AM, and the other and in Coin 1 ,2, 3,, ,Tried a 10x5 coil all modes, does it in all modes. Just going to have to send it back again, bummer

theres a lot of good folks on this forum,,,,before you send it back, why dont you try this,,,,get someones phone number, i bet a guy named morelic would be more than happy to talk to you,,,,after 30 years of this stuff i still get it wrong from time to time,,when i got that 705 it baffled me,,,but after a few phone calls i was on track,,,,send that morelic an email, from what ive been told he's got this machine down,,,

This may sound crazy but is there a chance you have a piece of metal stuck under the protective cover. Are you wearing steel toed shoes or are the string eyelet's or the ends of the shoe strings metal. The bolt that holds the coil is made out of plastic and not metal.

Good luck

if u turn the sens down to 5 hat does i do? if there is an electric fence around it will do it. Even if i noise cancelled. I could figure out was wrong with mine cause it was doin the same thing. I took it to my friends and it quit. Long story short it was the electic pulse of the fence settin it off. Im sure there are other things that would do the same. Hope that helps.
