from the park this afternoon. Saw a fellow detectorist which was pretty cool, i thought nobody else detected in our area except me:heh:

he has a :whites: DFX and a DD coil, showed me a gold ring he dugged up from that park. I hope that park has some more:laugh:

I wonder if Garrett will use a VDI numbering in their future model:huh: oh well....

VDI numbers are only as accurate as what the conductivity of a particular object is. Some people like numbers, some like icons and some like tone ID, and some people like a combination. All three maintain about the same degree of probability. It's more important to really get to know your machine, and I mean to the point where you start telling the machine what is probably underneath the coil instead of the other way around.

Looks like you had fun detecting. That's probably the most important aspect of metal detecting.

Nothin Like Good Old Clad to make your day.

Keep probing the area you may cough up one of them rings for yourself.

I saw a fella today as well when I was out. He was scanning way to fast and never saw him bend a knee so I'm figuring he drew a blank.Thats ok by me I'll be checking that area tommorow...weather permiting.

Cheers!

I remember I once saw a guy detecting awhile back. He looked like he was walking a dog. No swinging motion what so ever.
Some of those older metal detectors I guess you had to swing fast. And Uncle Willy told me a secret that a faster swing will get you better depth with the ace250.........Oops! Sorry Uncle Willy! Secrets out now.

of not checkin out those pull tabs signals, you know sometimes you get tired of it. I'm not givin up on finding jewelries yet:thumbup:

They already do. Its called a cursor. Remember, too much meter watching means less digging.

Here's what John said:

We'd all be wise to listen to him. Thanks, Bud.

Yeah one still has to rely on the computer between their ears as the computer in your detector only kicks out probables, not exacts.

Yeah when motion detectors first came out you practically had to whip them to get them to perform correctly and discriminate properly. Thankfully that problem has been erased. But a motion detector is still a motion detector.

Hey,hey, hey, am i learning on this site or what? Such wisdom amazing...I'm so glad to read you guys that with it i will hopefully not get bad habits right from the start.I'm green as the machine but wait mine is yellerr hmmmm.lol. So now ive got the ace 250 with the original coil and my son Nicky got me the 4' coil at xmas so i guess with your wisdom and alot of practice and digging i will get to have fun out ther this spring..Thanks again you guys i love this site. It's practicely like taking a course with teachers and all.
