Still around

Haven't been on in a while because I lost my better half of 29 years to brain cancer last November. Have had a lot to deal with.
A little over a year ago I sold my Sigma 70-300 APO Macro and I missed it so much I just bought the new version of this lens. It seems to be about as good as my first one. Here is a couple shots hand held in macro... hope you like.

Hi Tom,

Really sorry to hear about your loss. I couldn't possibly know the pain you're going through.

Hang in there and hope you get some solace in your photography although it must affect your ability to be creative. That said your pics are nice.

I just upgraded from my P&S to a DSLR this weekend and am pouring through the manuals, etc. I still have to add an long tele and macro and can see why you'd miss yours.

All the best ... Gord SW Ont.

We have missed your remarkable photos. I am very sorry it was for that reason. If it isn't a trade secret, I hope you will offer a little discourse some time on how you manage to blur those backgrounds so effectively.

I use the lowest F stop the lens has although in these shots I used F9 to try and get as much of the flower in focus as I could.. I also used this lens in macro mode.
Thanks

Tom...

My heart goes out to you for the loss of your partner.. I don't believe there is any greater pain that you will feel on this earth. I hope the rest of the world is being kind to you so that you can take the time you need to get your balance back... It's nice to see you back again.

Bob
