Sticker or No Sticker?

New member
I recently read that dirt might enter the speaker holes on the MXT... so I wrote whites and Todd generously sent me a sticker
to cover the holes at no charge. It occurred to me that covering the holes might cause the internal electronics to overheat.
Is this a possibility or am I worried about nothing? Your input would be most welcome!

No sticker. Dirt will not get in where the speaker is. I've had mine for almost 9 years now and it's never had a sticker over the speaker. HH, Nancy

No overheat....air can not circulate through the speaker anyway. I believe it has a plastic cone and waterproof or water resistant at least. No need for the sticker unless you just really like it.

On 3/12/2010 Old Katz made a post suspecting speaker problems,(Turns out everything is fine)I myself after using a micrometer to measure the holes suspected dirt in the speaker housing. The next day I called whites and asked If placing a sticker over the holes would run the components hot, I was assured by the Tech placing a sticker over the holes would not hurt anything.I passed on putting a sticker on, and after today's hunt my MXT looked more like a mud duck and all is fine.:sadwalk:
I would hope to be a blessing and not a burden, and if any comment I make is out of line I can take the reproof and rebuke so by all means. After all the time I have in reading the MXT literature front and back I'm only about 500 hrs into the hunt.

Nancy, et al. Thanks for your input. I've been posting little but lurking alot these past few weeks
and have learned much. Good board....great crowd! :beers:

I was concern about dirt and overheating as well, so I placed a sticker only in half of the holes area

Mine had the holes fully covered by the sticker when I got it. Going into my third season with it and no problems whatsoever.
