What was the hottest day you have detected in and what was the coldest?

A few years ago, on a very hot day, I went to a city park and detected, and I go so hot and tired I sat down to rest and realized there wasn't another pour soul but me in that park. No children, no dogs, no adults!

I got home and the weather report said it was 97 and I don't remember the humidity, but believe me it was a very hot day! Shows how stupid a person can be or how dedicated to detecting one can be!!!

Then one winter day, needing to get my detecting fever fixed, I went to the nearest playground with pea gravel which was rather icy. After about an hour I was so cold, I had to leave before I froze to death! When I got home the weather report was 20 above zero with a cold wind blowing, so don't know how cold it really felt like, but I know I sure was cold! Again stupidity or dedication for finding those elusive treasures???

God Bless!

Well we never get too cold here - and when it does it warms up quickly. Have detected in mountainous areas when it's 29-30 degrees but climbs to 50-60 by about noon.

Hot is another point - have detected in this heat wave several times - 105-108 and am getting worn out by it. Think in the future I'll find another hobby for July & August :) Steve in so az

I'll hunt at the beach when it's hot, just a bit nicer down there and I can always go in the water to cool off. During the winter it can get pretty nasty :) I've been there when the wind chills brought temps down to the single digits and lower.

steve,

Sheeeesh! 107 and 108 ???? It don't matter what the humidity is at those temps! Hot is Hot ! In Arkansas we worry about the Temperature and the Humidity... and this thing called Heat Index, but we don't have bunches of days at the temps you talk about! I just hate to take a change of clothes into the woods with me to finish a morning's hunt!

God Bless,

Kim
