Does anyone know if there is still a recruit training base in great lakes ill? Stamped on side of ring. Good luck Loop.

There is a large Naval Base and training center in Waukegan, Illinois. That's where that ring originated. Might be interesting to try to trace the owner.

what is a navey ring doing on a marine corps base i wonder, not much water there

with a guy holding a rifle over his head. Was out in the Joshua Tree Natl park hunting and ring was 20 feet off major road. Your guess is as good as anyone's how it got there. Thought the navy might issue those after boot camp grad. Its a justin make ring but looks like good quality. still have not figured out what the center stone is. Good luck Loopswinger.

National Park--- good thing the ranger did not see you.

You got that right. He would have confiscated the detector, the vehicle, and everything else that wasn't nailed down.
Bill

Not only that but a big fine and possibility of jail.
Even to just have a detector in the car. I believe it needs to be broken down and boxed.
Scarey---

Oh yeah, if they find a detector in your car in operating condition that's all they need. They are real stinkers about it. Once they take your stuff it's gone forever.
