I've gotten a permit from the NYC dept of parks and rec. in hand next step is to buy pair of head phone,a new pouch and detector for NYC now.....
Hope to be ready to detect by MAY...

About 15 years ago another detectorist from NJ told me when he started detecting he went only to Prospect Park in Brooklyn. He found so many Indian heads they became boring to dig, so he started bypassing them and began to cherry pick only silver. Said he dug loads of seated dimes, etc. I think he started detecting there more than 25 years ago. He said Central Park was off limits but some guys searched there at night. I can only imagine what they found, but God help them if they ever got caught.

I'm within 2 miles of 1 legal park.....I'll start there..

Good luck Jim, let us know how you do. You said you have to buy a detector. Do you know what your gonna get?
