yes i own all 3 of sunrays great coils & the one used most is the x-8 i have buried coins in my yard in trash free areas at 5-6-8 inches no matter what i run the sens at i am unable to get the 8 inch quarter they have been buried 2 months.i built my own coins pattern using the learn mode, run the gain at 6 ,limits 10,var 10 & using the adv.smartfind.. i see alot of you guys getting coins at 8-10 inches using the x-8 am i doing something wrong???? thanks for any input Robert in wisc feel free to email me if you prefer once again thanks and HH to all

can you pick it up in iron mask? at any rate freshly buried coins take a few years to delelope a halo, so it might take a while before it sees it.. does the stock coil see it ok?

Newly buried coins are no better than air testing. It takes a long time for them to build up a decent halo. The X-8 will find an 8" quarter and even deeper. I have found them at the beach at over 10" with the X-8. Try going into Iron mask -10 or more and crank up the sensitivity as high as posible. If you have a good set of headphones you may at least get a null over the 8 incher although that is really pushing it on a newly buried coin.

to swing the coil a little faster than you do with the stock coil and see if that helps. I have been told by several different people that the Stealth 8" likes a slightly faster sweep. I think most stealth users also like the gain at least 7 or higher. Don't forget to run deep mode on also.
I have one, I just rarely use it, I am a stock coil junkie! <IMG SRC="/forums/images/biggrin.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":D">
