I've been reading quite a few posts for the last few months and have been bothered by this constant nagging thought: If gold is found just about anywhere on the ID spectrum, why the big fuss about Tesoro not coming out with some sooper-dooper do-do scooper of a metal detector and if the ID's aren't even 60% accurate why would anyone want one? Now I know I've really stepped in it now, but can anyone tell me how to find gold rings with a surety with an ID machine? I've set and reset my Royal Sabre to every conceivable "trick" setting-I even experimented with my Ace 250 (forgive me for saying that) and end up finding just as much with the Silver umax as them-maybe more:biggrin: Maybe the Compadre IS the best deal in the whole bunch.

If you're looking for gold jewelry in tot lots, you can pay a lot more and not do as well as you would with the Compadre.

Just found a 18K gold bracelet with my new (One week old) Compadre. Would have read Iron/Foil on my other units, and would have given a low ID tone.

With the Compadre, the audio signal was good, so I dug.

IDing a gold ring on a VDI is almost impossible, but new detectors in y-the high prices range and using more than one frequency could be the solution. I think here about the V

Hi Nick, you're absolutely right ...
The TID display jobs can give you too much info to digest!
I've had a lot of detectors over the years, but after I started using detectors with a display I started trying to understand what the TID was showing me...
( Instead of digging up everything that was better than foil ) like I used to do with my old Golden Sabre Plus.
Recently my wife was snooping about with her old Silver Sabre Plus, digging goodies plus casting away trash.
All this time I was "fiddling" with my Explorer, changing settings/ display appearances etc.

With a non-display detector, I just set my disc. level to about foil, maybe ground balance, and off I go ___ digging targets...
WTG I reckon !!!

I have an excellent Corte's that has recently been sent over Stateside from here ( :ausflag: ) to be checked out, updated; and returned,
it now has the anti-glare face, has been fully checked out and is A1.
A beautiful detector !
Apart from the standard Corte's coil, I have a 4" concentric, a 5.75" concentric, a 7" widescan ( I think it's 7".) And an 10 or 11" flat concentric coil.

I haven't started the Corte's up for a long time, because I'm having a better time with my Tejon...:detecting: :tesoro:
