Static electricity and the Excalibur

Steve from Ohio

New member
I found something kind of interesting while inside the house doing some air testing.

It was very cold here in Ohio and the furnace was running often. Lots of static electricity in the house. I was even getting shocks from the water coming out of the faucet.

I was doing some air testing and noticed that when I touched the Excalibur's control pod, the Excal would signal a good signal. I was just touching the plastic control pod and though no shocks, it was causing the machine to go off as if I was hitting a good target.

I would then ground myself and then touch the Excalibur again and nothing. I then tried using my Van Degraf generator in the other room and the Excalibur would go crazy again.

So if you are out on the beach during a storm, and getting a lot of false signals, look out because you are surrounded by static electricity and possibly could get hit by lightning.
