Starting to love this Excal II!

Finally getting to know the tones of the Excal II and having conditions where hunting in the "Disc." mode was a huge advantage. 2 days this week I hunted a beach where there were thousands of targets below the high tide line. In "Pinpoint" mode there were just way too many signals from all the "trash". I wound up leaving the detector in "Disc." and was digging coins every minute or so including several silver coins. I still found a fair amount of junk but mostly copper and aluminum. I think the best thing about this detector is getting those mid to low tones and having your pulse quicken a bit but I still need to find more gold with this Excal II to increase my confidence that I am not missing too much. :) HH!

Yes, I agree, best water machine I've ever had! Only got around a dozen hours on it so far, dont get to water hunt as much as land, but learning the tones already. I doubt it though if I will be able to tell the difference between gold and aluminum anytime soon, thats gonna be awhile, just dont water hunt enough.
I really love the sound of the gold though!;)

Hi Goldak,

Happy New Year!

Well done...you're off to a great start and you're right about those MID to LOW tones!

Did you ever watch my Excalibur Sounds video...click on the Link!

Des, Yes, I did look up that video and it was helpful in learning the sounds of different targets. Thanks for putting that together. One of these days I'm going to hunt my favorite lake (where there is no old silver) and dig only the mid to low tones. There are a couple of reasons why I think that approach may pay off at this particular lake but I'll save that for another thread. HH!

Thank you goodmore, Goldak...

I had a lot of fun making that particular video as the weather was warm and being a Pisces, am naturally comfortable in water!

Happy New Year & Good Hunting to you
