Starting the year off with a new days record total!! :super:

Our previous highest total for one day was $68, but today my wife and I set out with a goal of not only beating that amount, but figured "what the heck, let's shoot for a hundred bucks!". After hitting 5 different locations and about eight hours later, we did it! Our total for the day ----> $103.87!!! (That's Australian dollars, but works out to about $81 US). My wife found a nice silver ring and I found 2 junk rings and an 1886 British Penny. All I can say is, Thank God for $1 and $2 coins. Out of that total, $95 was in $1's and $2's!
We are tired.

Something kinda funny also happened. I guess the little town we were in doesn't see too many people metal detecting. A father and daughter (about 10 yrs old) were walking down the side of the road across from where we were getting our gear out of the car and the girl was so busy watching what we were doing, she walked right into a power pole and whacked her head pretty hard. Her dad had to hold onto her and hug her while she cried. I felt kinda bad, but after it was apperent that she was ok, it was hilarious. I know it sounds sort of mean, but I've always been a fan of slapstick.

The year's off to a pretty good start! (We found over $63.00 yesterday at some of those same places!)

Cheers,
Toby.

The greatest treasure you've found is a wife who will dig with you!! What an awesome find...a real gem!!
I've got a good one too, she just won't go diggin with me.

Your total is more than I'll probably dig in a life time!! Congrats on the awesome totals.

8 hours of digging makes for a LONG day!!

Great hunt Toby. I'd love to have one of those days!:clapping:
John. Yes there is at least one local in Alice Springs with a detector! You wouldn't want to hunt there. The population is only about 40000, and it extremely isolated. Oh and I almost forgot to mention that there are a lot holiday makers that would pass through there that own a metal detector. You could always have a crack at the Caribbean. Heard that detectin' is real juicy there! Lot's of tourist,; not so many metal detectorists!:nerd:
Mick Evans.

Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Toby on a stellar day together. That is an awesome total for sure.

My wife supports me in the hobby, but having had knee replacement surgery three years ago, the option of MDing is out for her. She feels great but it's definitely not recommended to get down on your new knees. That's a NO-NO :nono:
