Ive been out of the Xterra forum for a while. i have been using a few different machines But just starten using my 305 again. And did some test with the stock 7.5klhz coil and the 18.75klhz coil. I noticed the 18.75klhz hit nickels much deeper than the 7.5klhz. It also hit dimes and quarters fairly well with the 18.75klhz. So ive decided to keep it on. I was hitting nickel signals at about 6 to 7 inches in a plug i dug. I noticed on the 305 when you get a signal deep the id reeds 44s on nickels and rings and quarters. All and all the xterra 305 is a pretty good machine.

Wich HF coil are you running? I have got a 705 with the 6" DD HF my nickles were not at the top of the chart, If I recal they hit like a high penny 1 way and a nickle the other--- but I remember thinking quarter / nail or maybe or penny / nail.

What other machines have you been running and how did you like them?

Im runnen the 18.75klhz 9 inch Minelab concentric coil. It hits nickels and gold jewlry a bit better than the stock. So guess that will stay on. As far as Quarters and dimes decent. Ive been using the Minelab quattro good machine but kinda heavy and uses twice the batteries. Also have been using the Ace 250 pinpointing and targetting is kinda hard on the Ace but its a good machine. And used a tesoro silver umax decent but no id so makes ya dig everything. also been using a Fisher f2 but id jumps around a bit to much and doesnt hit nickels very hard. So went back to the Xterra 305

Thanks
Jeff
